Limon is Costa Rica’s largest port, established back in the 1870′s for the export of Cost Rica’s main crops such as banana’s, coffee and grains. The main city of Puerto Limon, Costa Rica was established in 1502 during Columbus’ exploration of the new world. Although not much of a tourist destination itself, it is a very popular stopover on your way to the Caribbean Coast and destinations further south such as Cahuita National Park, Tortuguero National Park, Puerto Viejo de Talamanca and Cahuita. |
